NBA Dress Code or Social Engineering?

"Young black kids dress like NBA players. Unfortunately, they don't get paid like NBA players. So when they go out in the real world, what they wear is held against them.

"See, these players make $10 million to $15 million a year, so nobody cares how they dress. But regular black kids go out into the real world and how they dress is held against them.

"If a well-dressed white kid and a black kid wearing a do-rag and throwback jersey came to me in a job interview, I'd hire the white kid. That's reality. That's the No. 1 reason I support the dress code." - Charles Barkley, former NBA player and current TV Sports Analyst.

For the official policy, check here: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2194537

I personally do not see a problem with the NBA Dress Code, as the League has the right to set policies for its employees. Yes, while NBA players make millions, they are still employees and subject to whatever rules or policies are imposed by the Board, management or the team. Players do, however, have a right to voice their objections to certain policies, but if those objections do not result in your desired outcome, then you still have choices: either play ball or find another job.

Is the policy warranted in your opinion? Is there a bigger message behind the the League's stance? Is this even worth debating?

Is it me, or do people not really care about your blog and just want you to go to their site 9which may or may not be legit)?

Anyway, I am about fed up with the new style of dress. Smooth and clean is a lost art, especially for the Black Men in the lime. The NBA IS attacking the Black Image of its players, but I feel like they should, especially with so much youth and immaturity being drafted. Scandals hurt, and the old saying rings true here...if you dress the part, you will act the part.

P.S. Can you post a topic on this new clown dressing - long shirts, oversized hats, jewels and trinkets, fake teeth, etc...Did I miss a fashion trend, or is it silly looking?!
